Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:

UK Applicants:

A 2:1 (hons) degree or equivalent in a range of backgrounds, including Geography, Environmental Studies, Planning, Economics, Social Sciences, Urban Studies, Architecture and related disciplines.
Applicants with professional planning experience may also be considered.
Consideration will be given to applicants with a relevant professional qualification and/or substantial relevant experience in the field of regional development and/or spatial planning.

EU and International Applicants:

A first degree at the equivalent of a UK upper second class classification (2:1) or above in a relevant discipline, e.g., Geography, Environmental Studies, Planning, Economics, Social Sciences, Urban Studies, Architecture and related disciplines.
Applicants with professional planning experience may also be considered.
Consideration will be given to applicants with a relevant professional qualification and/or substantial relevant experience in the field of regional development and/or spatial planning.
Applicants with a 2:2 (hons) degree or professional experience without a degree may be considered for the PGDip.
All applicants are required to submit a personal statement outlining their interest in the course and their career aspirations.
Applicants with non-standard qualifications should contact the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology for advice.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

English language proficiency is essential for all applicants.
Applicants whose first language is not English are required to meet the following minimum requirements:
IELTS: 6.5 overall, with no subscore below 6.0
TOEFL (iBT): 92 overall, with no subscore below 20
PTE Academic: 61 overall, with no communicational skill below 59
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): 176 overall, with no skill below 169
Duolingo: 115 overall
Equivalent qualifications may also be accepted.

Note:

Students who fall short of the required IELTS score may be eligible for our pre-sessional English language courses.
