Admission Requirements
Entry Requirements:
UK Applicants:
- A 2:1 (hons) degree or equivalent in a range of backgrounds, including Geography, Environmental Studies, Planning, Economics, Social Sciences, Urban Studies, Architecture and related disciplines.
- Applicants with professional planning experience may also be considered.
- Consideration will be given to applicants with a relevant professional qualification and/or substantial relevant experience in the field of regional development and/or spatial planning.
EU and International Applicants:
- A first degree at the equivalent of a UK upper second class classification (2:1) or above in a relevant discipline, e.g., Geography, Environmental Studies, Planning, Economics, Social Sciences, Urban Studies, Architecture and related disciplines.
- Applicants with professional planning experience may also be considered.
- Consideration will be given to applicants with a relevant professional qualification and/or substantial relevant experience in the field of regional development and/or spatial planning.
- Applicants with a 2:2 (hons) degree or professional experience without a degree may be considered for the PGDip.
- All applicants are required to submit a personal statement outlining their interest in the course and their career aspirations.
- Applicants with non-standard qualifications should contact the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology for advice.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
- English language proficiency is essential for all applicants.
- Applicants whose first language is not English are required to meet the following minimum requirements:
- IELTS: 6.5 overall, with no subscore below 6.0
- TOEFL (iBT): 92 overall, with no subscore below 20
- PTE Academic: 61 overall, with no communicational skill below 59
- Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): 176 overall, with no skill below 169
- Duolingo: 115 overall
- Equivalent qualifications may also be accepted.

Students who fall short of the required IELTS score may be eligible for our pre-sessional English language courses.
