Program Overview
Overview
The Master of Architecture (MArch) is a two-year program centered on studio work that aims to stretch the boundaries of design imagination. The program engages with challenging ideas and theories, tackles meaningful problems through creative and exploratory design and research, and develops an appreciation of design as a collective cultural endeavor.
What You'll Learn
The program is organized around design studios, which account for two-thirds of the credits in each semester. Design is offered through 'vertical studios' where students from both stages of the program are taught together and address different themes and questions at different stages of the program. The program includes modules on architectural design research, tools for thinking about architecture, architectural design practice, and elective modules that allow students to develop a specialization or pursue accelerated routes towards MA or MSc degrees.
Modules
- Architectural Design Research 1 (Semester 1)
- Tools for Thinking About Architecture (Semester 1)
- Architectural Design Practice 1 (Semester 2)
- Exchange Study Project (Semester 2) (for students on a single semester exchange program)
- Optional modules:
- Architectural Ways of Knowing 1
- The Learning Lab: Research by Design A
