Program Overview


The Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources (BS) program at the University of Connecticut is an interdisciplinary major that allows students to tailor their education to their interests in agriculture, environmental sciences, or health. Outline:

  • Biology:
  • Select 4 credits from a list of introductory biology courses.
  • Chemistry:
  • Select 4 credits from a list of introductory chemistry courses.
  • Additional Science or Mathematics:
  • One course (minimum 3 credits) from BIOL, CHEM, ERTH, MARN, or PHYS, or an additional MATH or STAT course beyond general education requirements.
  • Introductory Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources:
  • Two 1000-level courses (3 credits each) representing two different CAHNR departments.
  • 36 Credit Group:
  • Meet all the requirements listed under the 36 Credit requirements for all CAHNR majors, which must include at least 24 credits (combined total) from CAHNR departments.
  • Career Statement:
  • Submit a statement describing how coursework relates to desired career. This statement and courses for the major must be approved by advisor and College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources Associate Dean to confirm the final Plan of Study.
