Degree Overview:
The Gas Technician program at St. Lawrence College equips students with the knowledge and skills required to work on gas-fired equipment (residential, commercial, or industrial). The program is based on the provincial curriculum designed and approved by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) and uses CSA modules. Individuals who successfully complete the program and pass the TSSA exams are certified to work on gas-fired equipment in Ontario.

Program Description:
The Gas Technician program is offered in two levels: Gas Technician 3 (213 hours) and Gas Technician 2 (420 hours). Both levels consist of required modules that must be taken in order.
Gas Technician 3:
- Covers the Gas Trade 3 required modules: 1, 2, 4, 6, and 7.
- Focuses on the governing bodies, regulations, and professional conduct in the gas industry.
- Introduces students to reference materials, tools, and equipment used in the gas trade.
- Provides hands-on training in the installation of gas piping and appliances.
- Requires a minimum of 75% on each module to write the TSSA G3 Certification Exam.
- Requires a minimum of 80% in-person attendance to write the TSSA G3 Certification Exam.
Gas Technician 2:
- Covers the Gas Trade 2 required modules: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24.
- Focuses on advanced topics such as venting, electrical systems, appliance repair, and installation of various gas-fired systems.
- Requires a minimum of 75% in each module to write the TSSA G2 Certification Exam.
- Requires a minimum of 75% in each of GENI2400, GENI2401, and GENI2402 to write the TSSA Certification Exam for Domestic Appliance Technician.
- Requires a minimum of 80% in-person attendance to write the TSSA examinations.
