Overview:

The General Machinist program offered at St. Lawrence College includes the in-school training of the General Machinist Apprenticeship as defined by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development. It covers three levels of study: Basic (Level 1), Intermediate (Level 2), and Advanced (Level 3). Each level requires 34 weeks of study with one 7-hour day per week in school and four days per week working on the job. Completing the program, including both in-school and on-the-job training, usually takes around four years.

  • MACH 206: Uses a mill for various tasks, including milling horizontal, vertical, and angular flat surfaces, milling forms using form cutters, drilling, reaming, and milling geometric shapes using a rotary table on a dividing head.
