Program Description
The eLearning Developer program is a two-year, online program consisting of five required courses. The first course, HTML Introduction, provides students with the foundational knowledge of HTML, the building block of web pages. Subsequent courses, eLearning Tools, Universal Design for Learning and Accessibility for Online Learning, Instructional Design for Online Learning, Learning Management Systems Platforms, Multimedia for eLearning Design, and Managing an eLearning Project, delve deeper into the specific skills and knowledge required for eLearning development.

The eLearning Developer program consists of five required courses:
- HTML Introduction (CSDU 46): This course provides students with the basics of creating web pages with graphics and links, using tables, controlling page layout, and adding pre-written JavaScript.
- eLearning Tools (CSDU 250): This course focuses on the selection and use of appropriate eLearning tools for developing online learning materials. Students gain hands-on experience with current web-based tools through the process of analyzing learner needs, obtaining input from subject matter experts, and selecting and using the right tool.
- Universal Design for Learning and Accessibility for Online Learning (CSDU 253): This course introduces students to the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and how to apply them to online learning materials. Students also learn about relevant accessibility laws and how to ensure AODA compliance for all online content.
- Instructional Design for Online Learning (CSSE 88): This course provides students with a foundation in learning and instructional design theories and models. Students learn how to analyze learner needs and develop a design plan for a specific instructional approach.
- Learning Management Systems Platforms (CSSE 91): This course introduces students to Learning Management Systems (LMS) and the tools available within them. Students explore the importance of well-designed templates and ease of navigation, and develop a module in an LMS platform to demonstrate a key learning outcome.
- Multimedia for eLearning Design (CSSL 96): This course emphasizes the importance of catering to various learning styles in online education.
