Journalism and Media Studies (Major)
The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies offers a modern and interdisciplinary education combining standard journalism school courses with those in media studies, film studies, and marketing/public relations. Graduates receive a globally recognized degree, accredited in the US and EU, and earn it in three years instead of four.
About the Program
The B.A. in Journalism and Media Studies (Major) at Anglo-American University is delivered by a faculty of academics and professionals from many countries. Students can expect to gain a solid background in politics, ethics, and media culture.
The curriculum offers a balanced mix of courses in journalism and media studies: reporting, media theory, digital media, visual journalism, film, and marketing, which is complemented by foundation courses in history, politics, sociology, and psychology.

Learning Outcomes
Graduates of the B.A. in Journalism and Media Studies can expect to:
- Have theoretical, methodological and conceptual knowledge of the field of journalism and communications, complemented by interdisciplinary knowledge of political, economic, social and humanities disciplines.
- Have the following capabilities and skills:
- Seek out, evaluate the reliability of, and work with information.
- Work in traditional and new digital media in an online work environment.
- Master the fundamentals of economic, cultural and investigative reporting.
- Public speaking and moderating.
- Intercultural communication.
- Possess the following competencies: work independently and in teams, including international teams, coordinate team activities to achieve set goals, communicate findings, problems and solutions to the domestic and international public in English in both written and verbal form, and persistently pursue their own professional development.

Qualification Awarded
The Bachelor’s degree awarded is concurrently recognized as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in the United States, per AAU’s accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, and as a Bakalář (Bc.) in the Czech Republic, per AAU’s accreditation by the National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education (NABHE). Graduates may select whether to use the U.S. post-nominal or the Czech pre-nominal title.
