Master of Nursing MNurs
The Master of Nursing (MNurs) is a postgraduate degree designed for registered nurses seeking to advance their knowledge and skills in clinical practice and step up in their careers. The programme has been approved by the New Zealand Nursing Council and prepares students for advanced practice roles with a thorough and beneficial curriculum.
Programme Overview
The MNurs programme has two pathways: Taught (120 and 240 points) and Research (120 and 240 points). Clinical courses have been developed in collaboration with clinical agencies, and clinical staff are involved in the teaching and delivery of courses. This programme has guaranteed scholarships.
Programme Structure
The MNurs has two pathways:
- Taught (120 points): Enter from a postgraduate qualification, choose a Dissertation (60 points) and advanced level courses in Nursing Practice, Population Health and Practice (60 points), or a Clinical project (30 points) and advanced level courses (90 points).
- Taught (240 points): Enter from a postgraduate degree, choose a Dissertation (60 points) and advanced level courses (120 points) and advanced level courses in Nursing Practice, Population Health and Practice (60 points), or a Clinical Project (30 points), advanced level courses (120 points), and advanced level courses (90 points).
- Research (120 points): Enter from a postgraduate qualification, choose a Thesis (120 points), a Research Portfolio (120 points), or a Research Portfolio (90 points) and advanced level courses (30 points).
- Research (240 points): Enter from a postgraduate degree, choose a Thesis (120 points) and advanced level courses (120 points), a Research portfolio (120 points) and advanced level courses (120 points), or a Research Portfolio (90 points), advanced level courses (120 points), and advanced level courses (30 points).
Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements include:
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences or Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) with a GPA of 5.0 for Taught 120 points.
- A Bachelor of Nursing with a GPA of 5.0 for Taught 240 points.
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences or Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) with a GPA of 5.0 for Research 120 points.
- A Bachelor of Nursing with a GPA of 5.0 for Research 240 points.
- Current registration as a nurse in New Zealand.
- English language requirements: IELTS Academic with a score of 6.5 and no bands less than 6.0.
Fees and Scholarships
- Domestic students: NZ$10,618.80* per year.
- International students: NZ$55,214* per year.
- Fees are inclusive of 15% GST but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel, and health insurance, or living costs.
