Program Overview
Master of Public Health
The Master of Public Health (MPH) is an internationally recognized qualification that prepares students for a career in the public health sector. This program is ideal for students intending to pursue a career in disease prevention, surveillance, health promotion, epidemiology, or another area of public health.
Programme Overview
The MPH program can be completed as either a taught or research master's. The program is recognized as Part I of the training for a Public Health Registrar.
Programme Structure
The program has two pathways: Taught (120 or 240 points) and Research (120 or 240 points).

- Advanced level courses listed in the Master of Public Health Schedule (60 points)

- Enter from an undergraduate degree
- Advanced level courses listed in the Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health Schedule (120 points)
- Advanced level courses in Health Informatics, Health Management, Mori Health, Population Health, or Population Health Practice from the Master of Public Health Schedule (60 points)
- Completion of a Dissertation (60 points)

Entry Requirements
The minimum program requirements include:
- A GPA of 5.0 or higher for the Taught 120-point and Research 120-point options
- A GPA of 5.0 or higher for the Taught 240-point and Research 240-point options, with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Completion of a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health or equivalent with a GPA of 5.0 or higher
- Relevant practical, professional, or scholarly experience may be considered in exceptional circumstances
Fees and Scholarships
The 2026 fees for the program are:
- Domestic students: NZ$10,618.80*
- International students: NZ$55,214* Fees are inclusive of 15% GST but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel, and health insurance, or living costs.
