The Bachelor of Science (Honours) programme is a postgraduate degree that extends your knowledge in your specialist area.

Programme Overview

The programme involves one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study after completing the requirements for the Bachelor of Science. You can deepen your knowledge and skills in your specialist area, with specialisations ranging from Mathematics to Medicinal Chemistry, Biotechnology to Geography, and Food Science to Photonics.

Programme Structure

• The programme requires 120 points from 700-level courses for your chosen specialisation, including a project or dissertation of between 30 and 60 points.
• You must also meet other requirements, including time limits and total points limits.

Entry Requirements

Minimum Programme Requirements

• For University of Auckland graduates: a GPA of 5.0.
• For other tertiary institution graduates: a GPE of 5.0.
• You must have completed a Bachelor of Science with at least 60 points above Stage II, or an undergraduate degree in science from a recognised university.

Further Programme Requirements

• Some specialisations may require specific courses in your undergraduate degree and/or a different GPA grade.

2026 Fees

• Domestic students: NZ$10,618.80 $11,545.20.
• International students: NZ$50,810 $55,484.
• Fees are inclusive of 15% GST but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel, and health insurance, or living costs.
