Bachelor of Education (Teaching) (Honours)

The Bachelor of Education (Teaching) (Honours) is a one-year postgraduate program designed to deepen students' knowledge and improve their career opportunities in the education sector.


Programme Overview

This advanced postgraduate qualification enhances students' ability to make a difference in the education sector. Students will explore burning questions, develop their knowledge by researching and studying alongside expert academics, and gain the opportunity to carry out a supervised research project in their area of interest.


Programme Structure

The program offers two options: the Taught Course option and the Research Portfolio option. The Taught Course option consists of a 30-point research project and 90 points in courses, while the Research Portfolio option consists of a 60-point supervised research portfolio and 60 points in courses.

Entry Requirements

The minimum program requirements include a Bachelor of Education (Teaching) with a GPA of 5.0 or higher in 45 points above stage II. Alternatively, students can gain entry into the program by completing the Postgraduate Certificate in Education with a GPA of 5 or higher.


Fees

The 2026 fees for domestic students are NZ$9,392.40 $9,574.80, while international students are required to pay NZ$43,674.


Key Dates

The application closing dates are 8 December 2025 for Semester One 2026 and 8 June 2026 for Semester Two 2026. The start dates for the program are 2 March 2026 for Semester One and 20 July 2026 for Semester Two.
