Master of Engineering Project Management
The Master of Engineering Project Management (MEPM) programme is designed for professionals who want to shape the future of engineering projects with confidence and expertise. This career-focused qualification brings together coursework and a project designed to prepare students for careers in international project management and leadership of major projects.
Programme Overview
The MEPM programme stands apart as the first and only programme in New Zealand accredited by the Project Management Institutes Global Accreditation Centre (GAC) a mark of excellence recognised worldwide. The curriculum blends industry-relevant skills with educational excellence, giving students mastery of the full spectrum of project management approaches from traditional Waterfall to modern adaptive and Agile methodologies.
Programme Structure
There are two options to suit candidates' existing qualifications and experience:
- 120-point programme: Designed for students who already hold a relevant postgraduate qualification or honours degree and have relevant work experience.
- 180-point programme: Suitable for those entering from a standard bachelor's degree. It includes additional foundational coursework before progressing to a final capstone or research project.
All students will have the choice to undertake one of two project options:
- ENGGEN 784: Capstone Project - A 30-point team-based project undertaken in the final semester of the programme.
- ENGGEN 794: Research Project - A 30-point independent research project undertaken in the final semester of the programme.
Entry Requirements
Minimum programme requirements include:
- A GPA of 4.0 for the 120-point or 180-point programme.
- Relevant qualifications such as a Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), or a relevant postgraduate diploma.
- Professional engineering experience may be required for some applicants.
Fees and Scholarships
- 2026 Fees:
- Domestic students: NZ$12,854.40*
- International students: NZ$50,810 $55,484*
- Fees are inclusive of 15% GST but do not include the Student Services Fee, course books, travel, and health insurance, or living costs.
- Scholarships and student loans may be available for eligible students.

Health Projects Specialisation
The Health Projects specialisation equips students to lead critical health initiatives with clarity and confidence. This option is delivered primarily on campus and offers rich engagement with faculty and industry partners.
