Master of Clinical Pharmacy

The Master of Clinical Pharmacy provides pharmacists with the opportunity to carry out research and contribute to the advancement of medicines and clinical pharmacy practice.


Programme Overview

The Master of Clinical Pharmacy enables pharmacists to use their skills and expertise in research projects and keep up-to-date with the latest innovations. Students can advance knowledge in clinical pharmacy through research and development, and evaluate innovations and advances in clinical pharmacy practice and medicines management services.


Programme Structure

The MClinPharm is a 120-point or 240-point research masters degree, depending on the level of study you have already completed.


  • Research Masters (120 points): Enter from a postgraduate qualification, and choose between a research portfolio (120 points) or a thesis (120 points).
  • Research Masters (240 points): Enter from an undergraduate degree, complete four courses in medicine management and advanced pharmacotherapy (120 points), and choose between a research portfolio (120 points) or a thesis (120 points).

Minimum Programme Requirements

  • Study option: Research 120 points, Grade required: GPA 5.0, Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) or Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy
  • Study option: Research 240 points, Grade required: GPA 5.0, Bachelor of Pharmacy

Further Programme Requirements

  • For Research 120 points: Completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) or the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy with a GPA of 5.0 or higher, current registration as a pharmacist in New Zealand, and a supervisor and topic confirmed.
  • For Research 240 points: Completed either a Bachelor of Pharmacy with a GPA of 5.0 or higher, or a Bachelor of Pharmacy with a GPA of 5.0 in 120 points above Stage III, or a Bachelor of Pharmacy and passed 60 points in a relevant postgraduate certificate or diploma with a GPA of 5.0, and current registration as a pharmacist in New Zealand.
