Course Overview
This programme is designed to help the individual practitioner respond to the complex, high level challenges that show up in their work.
Entry Requirements
- Fluency in written and oral English in diverse work practices and cultures
- Experience within the work environment, which is essential. Previous experience of higher education is not a prerequisite
- Significant professional experience, including collaboration with, and development of, others.
Eligibility
- UK/EU and international students are eligible to apply for this course.
- There are two entry points every academic year, in September and in January.
Teaching
- The DProf (TD) is a 4-5 year part time research degree undertaken in your field of practice.
- Your professional situation and personal agency are the focus of your development as a practitioner researcher and as such will inform your choice of research design that will be most relevant and innovative to influencing your own thinking and professional practice as well as the thinking and practice of your peers and sector.
- There are two entry points in the year, in September and January. On enrolment you will join a cohort of candidates from different backgrounds, locations and professional fields who become a supportive learning community.

- Participants on this programme are often well established in their field and decide to undertake a Professional Doctorate either to enhance their skills and knowledge in their present role or to advance their career.
- Many testify to the way their understanding of themselves and their agency and their influence on their practice domain has been transformed.
Fees and Funding
- UK students 1: Part-time students: £6,400 per year
- International students 2: Part-time students: £9,050 per year
- The following course-related costs are included in the fees:
- All printing and copying required for your study
- Self-service laptops available for loan for a maximum of 24 hours
- Audio-visual equipment available for loan, including digital stills cameras, digital video recorders, digital audio recorders.
Funding
- Funding or studentships for research degrees are limited, and most research degree students are expected to pay their own fees and subsistence costs.
