Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:


General Admission:

The New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 5) (Administration and Technology Strand) follows the general admission requirements of Te Pūkenga.


Age Requirement:


Applicants must be at least 16 years of age on the date of the program's commencement.

Early Release Exemption from this requirement may be possible in certain cases.


Academic Qualifications:

Applicants must demonstrate their academic preparedness by meeting one of the following criteria:

  • NCEA Level 2:
  • Achievement of NCEA Level 2 including:
  • 8 Literacy credits at Level 2 or above, and
  • 14 Numeracy credits at Level 1 or above
  • Equivalent of NCEA Level 2:
  • Completion of an equivalent qualification recognized by Te Pūkenga
  • Level 3 Qualification:
  • Successful completion of an approved qualification at Level 3 or above with a relevant pathway

Mature Applicants:

Applicants over the age of 20 who do not meet the general academic requirements above may be considered based on demonstrable ability to succeed in the program. Evidence of preparedness may include their record of learning, curriculum vitae, and personal commitment to success.


Discretionary Admission:

Applicants who don't meet the general admission requirements but believe themselves adequately prepared can apply for discretionary admission. Their application will be reviewed based on their ability to demonstrate a high likelihood of successfully completing the program.


Programme Specific Requirements:

There are no additional programme-specific admission requirements for the New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 5) (Administration and Technology Strand).


Language Literacy Requirements:

All applicants must demonstrate their language literacy proficiency equivalent to:

  • 8 NCEA literacy credits at Level 2 or above.

Applicants who fail to meet this requirement may be required to take an approved proficiency test to demonstrate their ability.


Language Proficiency Requirements (International Students):


International applicants must additionally demonstrate their English language proficiency through an IELTS score of 5.5 (academic) with no individual band lower than 5.0 from a test taken within the last two years.
