MA International Journalism for Digital Media
Overview
The MA International Journalism for Digital Media is a postgraduate program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the rapidly evolving field of international journalism. The program is offered on a full-time or part-time basis, with a duration of one year for full-time students and three years for part-time students.
Course Details
The program is divided into three trimesters, with the following modules:
- Trimester One:
- Global Perspectives on Journalism (30 credits)
- Journalism Practice in a Digital Newsroom (30 credits) OR one of a choice from optional 30 credit modules
- Trimester Two:
- News and Ethics (30 credits)
- Specialist Journalism Practice (15 credits) PLUS one of a choice of optional 15 credit modules
- Trimester Three:
- Major Project (60 credits)

Assessment
Assessment methods include reviewing academic and practical response to modules, production exercises and portfolios of work, response to practical media projects, peer reviewing, research and essays, presentations, work-based learning diaries and reports, as well as the dissertation or major project supported by substantial self-reflection.
Employment and Stats
Graduates of the program can enter careers in various forms of journalism, including print, broadcast or online. They can work in reporting or management roles, public relations, research, or media analysis, both in the UK or abroad.
Requirements
- A good honours degree (2:1 or above)
- International students: overall IELTS 6.5 with no component below 5.5
- Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) may be considered for entry
Fees
- Full-time home: £9,100 per year (2025/26)
- Full-time international: £17,000 per year (2025/26)
- Part-time: part-time fees are calculated on a pro rata basis
