The University of Salford offers a BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering with Foundation Year program. This four-year full-time course is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in civil engineering principles, mathematics, and study skills.
Introduction

Course Structure

Learning Experience
The program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to create the future infrastructure, buildings, and facilities that improve quality of life. Students will experience group projects, external guest lectures, placements, and a stimulating range of activities.
Industry Placement
Students will have the option to take an industry placement year between years two and three. This is an excellent way to enhance their CV, gain hands-on work experience, and build industry connections.
Facilities
Students will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including the Heavy Structures Laboratory, Hydraulics Laboratory, Water Quality Laboratory, and Geotechnics Laboratory.
Employment and Stats
There is huge demand for civil engineers, both in the UK and worldwide. Graduates can expect to work in the built environment and construction industries, or in transport, utilities, or information technology sectors.
Requirements
- GCSE English Language and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
- 64 UCAS points
- A level: 64 UCAS points to include grade C in Mathematics, or a numerate science
- BTEC National Diploma: MPP for Engineering or science subjects, to include Merits in Mathematics modules
- Access to HE: Pass with 64 UCAS points from a QAA-approved Engineering or Science programme
Tuition Fees
- Full-time home: £8,505 for Foundation Year and £9,535 for subsequent years
Additional Costs
Students should consider further costs, including books, stationery, printing, binding, and general subsistence on trips and visits.
