The University of Salford offers a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, a three-year full-time program that can be extended to four years with an industry placement. The program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to create, improve, and protect the infrastructure that supports everyday life.

Introduction

Civil engineers create, improve, and protect the infrastructure that supports everyday life. This program is designed to provide students with the skills to successfully plan, manage, and implement major engineering projects, opening up exciting career opportunities.

Course accreditations

• Accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) comprising the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Institute of Highway Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and the Permanent Way Institution on behalf of the Engineering Council.
• Fully satisfying the educational base for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).
• Partially satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng).

Course delivery

• Delivered over three years (or four with an industry placement).
• Modules designed to embed theoretical knowledge, build career-focused skills, and help students become world-class engineers.

Industry placement

• Option to take an industry placement year between years two and three.
• Tutors support students in finding a placement and monitor progress throughout.

Requirements

• GCSE English Language and Mathematics at grade C/level 4 or above (or equivalent).
• UCAS tariff points: 112, including maths and numerate science.
• A-level: 112 tariff points, including grade C in Mathematics and grade C in a numerate Science-based subject.
• BTEC National Diploma: DMM, including Distinctions in Mathematics modules.
• Access to HE: Contact Admissions for further information.
• Scottish Highers: 112 tariff points, including Mathematics and Physics or Design Technology.
• Irish Leaving Certificate: 112 tariff points, including A2 in Higher Level Mathematics and Physics.
• European Baccalaureate: Pass in Diploma of at least 60% from Science or Engineering.
• International Baccalaureate: 30 points to include grade 5 in Higher Level Mathematics and Physics.

Tuition fees

• Full-time home: £9,535 per year (2025/26)
• Full-time international: £17,650 per year (2025/26)

Additional costs

• Books, stationery, printing, binding, and general subsistence on trips and visits.

International student scholarships

• Available for high-achieving international students.
