Computer Science with Cyber Security
Overview
The BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Cyber Security degree is designed to develop your in-depth knowledge and understanding of programming, computer systems, data mining, cyber security, and network penetration testing. This course is accredited by the BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT.
Course Details
Course Delivery
The course is delivered across three years (or four, if you choose to include an industry placement). You will learn through a blend of theoretical, collaborative, and practical methods, including:
- Practical laboratory-based activities
- Case studies
- Group work
- Project work
Learning Experience
You will have the opportunity to take part in our three-week long industry challenge, Hackcamp, where you will work in a team to develop a web-hosted dashboard or application to meet a real-life brief set by one of our industry partners.
Industry Placement
You will have the option to take an industry placement between years two and three. Although you will be responsible for securing your own placement, our tutors will support you all the way, from helping you to apply to providing support while you are on placement.

Admission Criteria
Standard Entry Requirements
- GCSE English Language and Mathematics at grade C/level 4 or above (or equivalent)
- UCAS tariff points: 112-120
- A-Level: at least grade C in A-level Computer Science or Computer Studies
- BTEC National Diploma: DDM from Computing or IT
- Access to HE: Pass with 112-120 UCAS points, from a QAA-approved computer-related programme with Level 3 Computing content
