Overview

Core Skills for Radiological Reporting (CSRR) is a 15 credit theoretical module that encourages the trainee reporting radiographer to be critical and reflective in their practice.

All about the course

CSRR will be completed alongside one of our other reporting modules, Dynamic Studies, Adult Chest Reporting, Radiological Image Interpretation or Extending Advanced Practice. You will use your reporting caseload as a basis for a critical reflective audit and to complete the module assessment.

Alternatively, if you are already qualified to report and you would like to take a more critical approach to your practice you may study CSRR as a standalone module, using your reporting caseload to support your studies.

Completing the post graduate certificate will enable you to develop your skills to become competent in pattern recognition and image interpretation specific to your own area of practice and to effectively formulate diagnoses and communicate your reports both verbally and in writing.

What will I be doing?

The module will be delivered online using the Collaborate Ultra. We will host a range of live online tutorials and group activities to prepare you for the module assessment. The University’s Virtual Learning Environment, Blackboard Ultra, will be used for live online tutorials as well as providing students with directed learning resources and access to the library’s extensive databases to complete independent learning.

You will be taught by academics with a specialist interest in image interpretation, clinical governance and expert clinical practice across a range of specialist areas.

This module can be taken for the purposes of continuing professional development or as part of our MSc Advanced Medical Imaging programme.

Requirements

What you need to know

You will need access to a clinical caseload and this must be arranged in advance, the university are unable to provide a clinical placement.

If you do not meet our entry requirements you will be asked to complete a writing task prior to being made an offer to study, please ensure that you apply in good time for this to be completed.

Previous study and experience

You will hold a degree in BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or other health care professional qualification, 2:1 or above.

For clinically related modules, you will also have access to a relevant imaging caseload and support of a clinical mentor. Regrettably, the University of Salford cannot undertake to find a clinical placement for you.

Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)

We welcome applications from students who may not have formal/traditional entry criteria but who have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully.

The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process could help you to make your work and life experience count. The APL process can be used for entry onto courses or to give you exemptions from parts of your course.

Two forms of APL may be used for entry: the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) or the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).
