Overview
This four-day non-accredited short course is for children’s social workers to gain the knowledge and skills required within the family court arena.
Course Details
What you study
This course aims to:
- outline the various legal positions that Local Authority social workers are in within the family court arena (public and private law)
- develop the use of accurate, succinct, and analytical recording, including the use of chronologies
- explore risk assessment and analysis and how to present this in court papers, particularly in relation to Social Work Evidence Template (SWET) documentation in an analytical manner, avoiding ‘story telling’
- care planning and including the voice of the child in the court arena
- presenting cases in court; court etiquette, court skills, giving evidence
