Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:


EU home students:

  • Entry requirements listed below are the same for both EU home students and international overseas students.
  • Applicants should normally have good grades at GCSE level including English language or English literature, mathematics and a science subject, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Applicants not holding the General Certificate of Education (or equivalent) must demonstrate an equivalent standard in a recognised foreign qualification.
  • Applicants with non-standard qualifications or mature students with significant relevant work experience are welcome to apply and their applications will be considered on an individual basis.

International overseas students outside the EU:

  • Applicants from outside the EU will be expected to have achieved the equivalent of a good UK Bachelor’s Honours degree in physics, applied physics or a relevant subject, and to demonstrate a high standard of written and spoken English.
  • Applicants who do not meet these entry requirements, but who have demonstrably achieved high grades in a good General Certificate of Education (or equivalent), may be eligible if they can show strong evidence of motivation, work experience, or other qualifications considered relevant by the Admissions Tutor.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • All applicants whose first language is not English must have a score of 6.5 or above in IELTS, TOEFL IBT, or an equivalent test in English language proficiency.
