Program Overview
The MS in Clinical and Translational Science program at the University of Illinois Chicago trains clinicians to become leaders in clinical research. The MS in Clinical and Translational Science program is intended to train clinicians, primarily postdoctoral or postresidency fellows and junior faculty, to become leaders in clinical research. The degree is offered by the School of Public Health at the University of Illinois Chicago. The program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to conduct high-quality clinical research. Students will learn about the research process, from study design and data collection to data analysis and interpretation. They will also learn about the ethical and regulatory considerations involved in conducting clinical research. The program is offered on a full-time basis and typically takes two years to complete. Students are required to complete a total of 48 credit hours, including coursework, a research project, and a culminating experience. The program is open to students with a variety of backgrounds, including medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and public health. Students must have a bachelor's degree and a strong foundation in science and mathematics. The program is designed to prepare students for a variety of careers in clinical research. Graduates of the program may work as clinical research coordinators, principal investigators, or research scientists. They may also work in academia, government, or industry. Entry Requirements:
- Academic Background:
- A bachelor's degree in health sciences or other relevant field.
- Completed course work in biostatistics, epidemiology, health policy, health services research, or other relevant areas.
- Grade Point Average (GPA):
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent.
- Minimum GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) in the last 60 semester hours or equivalent.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
- International students from non-English speaking countries are required to demonstrate proficiency in English through one of the following:
- TOEFL: Minimum score of 90.
- IELTS: Minimum score of 7.0 (with no individual band score lower than 6.0).
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): Minimum score of 59.
