Overview

The Early Childhood Teacher Education program at Illinois State will prepare you for a professional educator's license for teaching children from birth to age 7 (grade 2). Throughout the coursework, teacher candidates will gain the professional knowledge and skills needed to become a highly effective educator, as well as approximately 300 hours of hands-on classroom experience prior to student teaching.

Why study Early Childhood Education?

Early Childhood teachers play a vital role in the development of children by introducing students to the basics of math, language, science, and social studies. In addition, these formative years for young children lay the foundation to build strong social skills and learning styles to be successful along their educational path.
