Airframe Systems Design Course
Overview
The Airframe Systems Design course is a one-week short course that aims to expand knowledge of airframe systems, their role, design, and integration. The course provides an appreciation of the considerations necessary when selecting aircraft power systems and the effect of systems on the aircraft as a whole.
Course Structure
The course is delivered through a series of lectures in the mornings and a mixture of tutorials and highly interactive group design exercises in the afternoons. Delegates are required to bring their own scientific calculator.
Core Content
The course covers the following topics:
- Introduction to Airframe Systems
- Systems Design Philosophy and Safety
- Aircraft Secondary Power Systems
- Aircraft Pneumatics Power Systems
- Aircraft Hydraulics Power Systems
- Aircraft Electrical Power Systems
- Aircraft Emergency Systems
- Flight Control Power Systems
- Aircraft Environmental Control
- Aircraft Icing and Ice Protection Systems
- Aviation Fuels and Aircraft Fuel Systems
- Engine Off-Take Effects
- Fuel Penalties of Systems
- Advanced and Possible Future Airframe Systems
- The Ageing of Aircraft Systems
Target Audience
The course is beneficial for those recently involved with aircraft systems, as well as those with some previous experience. It is also suitable for individuals with experience in a particular area of aircraft design looking to gain a broader knowledge of airframe systems design.
Speakers
The course is directed by Dr. Craig Lawson, who has been involved in research and teaching at Cranfield for over fifteen years. He teaches airframe systems design and aircraft performance to full-time and part-time MSc students and supervises research projects at MSc and PhD levels.
Concessions
Concessions are available, including a 20% discount for Cranfield Alumni and a 10% discount when registering three or more delegates from the same organization at the same time. Accommodation fees are not included in the discount scheme.
Accommodation Options
