  • An optional 10-week supervised work placement at a museum, gallery, or archive (previous placements include Tate, British Museum, Whitechapel Gallery, and Horniman Museum).
  • Regular gallery and museum visits.
  • An exciting study trip abroad every spring.

  • Consists of three compulsory modules (30 credits each), one optional module (30 credits), and a 15,000-word dissertation (60 credits).
  • Students can graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma if they choose not to complete the dissertation, or a Postgraduate Certificate if they only complete the compulsory modules.

  • Available in full-time (one year) and part-time (two years) options.
  • Full-time students attend one to two evenings a week, plus one week of daytime classes, from October to July.
  • Part-time students attend one to two evenings a week, from October to July.

Entry Requirements:


UK and EU applicants (Home students):

  • Minimum Academic qualifications:
  • A second-class honours degree (2:2 or above) in any subject from a recognized higher education institution.
  • Other relevant academic and professional qualifications and work experience may also be considered.
  • Applicants who meet the above requirements will typically be considered for an offer.

International applicants (Overseas students) - Non EU applicants:

  • Applicants with a degree from outside the UK, or an English-medium qualification equivalent to a UK bachelor's degree with a good grade.
  • A good first or upper second (equivalent 2:1 or above) class honours degree from a recognized university, or equivalent, is usually required.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

Applicants whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate English language proficiency equivalent to:

  • An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Test score of 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in each of the subtests: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
