Degree Overview:

The Supporting Learning for Practice module aims to encourage students to engage with the facilitation of learning in practice. The module will equip students to become a practice assessor under the new NMC guidelines. The module explores the theories, principles and concepts related to learning, teaching and assessment to facilitate learning in practice.

  • Evaluate your learning environment using the best evidence available.
  • Theories and principles of learning, teaching and assessment.
  • Learning, teaching and assessment strategies to support effective learning in practice.
  • Continuing professional development needs in order to fulfil the role of an educator.

Structure:

  • The module runs over 12 weeks.
  • Content is provided online on CampusMoodle.
  • Students are expected to attend three synchronous teaching mornings.
  • Online support sessions are also provided.

Assessment:

  • Assessment is a written assignment - 2500 words.

Teaching:

  • Content is delivered by experienced academics who hold registrations with the NMC.
  • Independent study: 12.5 hours per week.

  • Credit from this module may contribute to the MSc Advancing Practice (Clinical Practice), MSc Advancing Practice (Nursing) or RGUflex.
  • The module is open to qualified nurses, midwives and allied health professionals who wish to further develop their knowledge and skills in teaching and learning in the practice setting.
