This short course, titled "Therapeutic Investigation and Intervention," aims to enhance practitioners' knowledge of crucial clinical investigations, encompassing:

  • Blood tests and analysis
  • Arterial Blood Gas analysis
  • ECG analysis
  • Fundamentals of X-Ray interpretation.
  • The course focuses on developing the ability to:
  • Interpret clinical history taking and examination findings to form differential diagnosis.
  • Understand the decision-making process and rationale for investigating diseases.
  • Analyze the underlying evidence base of investigations.
  • Synthesize results in relation to patient well-being and outcomes.

Assessment:

The assessment for this course is a written examination conducted using the Moodle Quiz platform. Students are expected to dedicate approximately 5 hours per week for ten weeks leading up to the assessment.


Teaching:

The course is delivered online through the University's Virtual Learning Environment, CampusMoodle, over a period of 12 weeks. Teaching is primarily led by lecturers who are qualified ANPS (Advanced Nurse Practitioners) with extensive experience in both Primary and Secondary care settings. In addition, input from subject specialists within practice and other university departments may be incorporated where relevant.

  • Applicants are typically expected to demonstrate degree-level study, however, individuals without a degree are encouraged to contact the university to discuss their specific circumstances.
