BSc (Hons) - Youth Work Degree Apprenticeship
Overview
The BSc (Hons) Youth Work Degree Apprenticeship is a work-based training program designed for individuals employed in a Youth Work setting for at least 30 hours a week. The program combines on-the-job and off-the-job training to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors required to meet the occupational duties of a professional Youth Worker.
Course Structure
The program is divided into three years, with each year consisting of three terms. The curriculum is underpinned by the National Youth Agency (Professional, Statutory and Regulatory body for Youth Work) guidance, the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Youth Work, and Apprenticeship standards.

Teaching & Assessment
Learning takes place both at the University and in the workplace, using real work-based activities to inform and evidence learning. Assessments include work-based projects and experience or other assignments, drawing on knowledge of and experience in the workplace.
Entry Requirements
- GCSE Maths and English at grade 4/C or above or equivalent
- UCAS Points 96-112
- Apprentices should have a minimum of Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths
Funding
Government funding rules require that an apprentice must:
- Have the right to live and work in the UK
- Be in employment
- Be paid at least the legal minimum wage
- Have a contract of employment covering the full duration of the apprenticeship from start to planned EPA date
- Have a written and signed agreement for the apprenticeship with their employer
Tuition Fees
Tuition fees are set annually and are subject to review each year.

A JNC Youth Worker has a wealth of opportunities to access, and can work across a diverse range of sectors, within frontline and strategic roles, from statutory, public, and voluntary sectors as well as an emerging social enterprise opportunities and crossing into educational and health provisions.
