Bachelor's to Master's Aging Studies

The accelerated Bachelor of Arts (BA) to Master of Arts (MA) in Aging Studies is ideal for a student of any undergraduate discipline at Wichita State seeking advanced career opportunities in the aging professions. Shorten your graduate studies by one semester and save time and money by applying nine hours of dual credit to your undergraduate and graduate degree.

Inside the Program

Students Make a Difference in the Community

Student interns and volunteers across aging studies and exercise science are using their skills and training to lead exercise classes across the community.


Through the Well-Rounded Exercise Program (WellREP), older adults engage in student-lead, evidence-based progressive exercise classes designed specifically for them.


From senior centers to senior living communities, more than 500 older adults are served at various locations across the Greater Wichita area.


Curriculum

Students admitted to the accelerated program may enroll in courses for graduate credit (up to nine credit hours) while simultaneously completing their undergraduate degree requirements.


Two suggested curriculum options are available:


  • For students in health management or business / HR, the recommended curriculum includes courses on senior living operations, human resource management, senior living hospitality, and aging networks and community services.
  • For students in the social sciences or clinical health professions, the recommended curriculum covers perspectives on an aging society, health communication in aging, family care management, and the Medicare system.

An accelerated master's degree in aging studies allows you to efficiently acquire a graduate education, opening the door for advancement in a growing field. This flexible online program is ideal for undergraduate disciplines in social work, health science, health management and the health professions such as nursing and dental hygiene, and those in the field of communication sciences, exercise science, psychology, business and education.
