Graduate Emphasis in Aging Studies
The graduate emphasis in aging studies offers students a way to gain knowledge and skills to enhance their career while pursuing a graduate degree from another department. This concentration is a valuable asset to many graduate degrees, including social work, business, physical therapy, and psychology.
Applied Learning at Wichita State
At Wichita State, applied learning is a key component of every degree program. Every degree offered has a guaranteed applied learning or research experience built into it, equipping students with relevant skills and experience to make them workforce-ready before graduation.
Admission to the Program
To complete the graduate emphasis in aging studies, students must first be admitted to the Wichita State Graduate School.
Inside the Program
Older Adults Benefit from Student-Led Exercise Classes
Highly trained graduate, practicum, and undergraduate internship students lead exercise classes for older adults in the community through the WellREP program. This evidence-based, progressive exercise class is specially designed for older adults and serves over 150 older adults at 10 locations in the Wichita area.
Curriculum
The graduate emphasis in aging studies may be taken as part of a graduate degree program in another department. The program consists of 12-15 credit hours of study. Students who wish to pursue the aging studies emphasis must fulfill the requirements in both departments.
