You'll train like a professional and gain real-world experience in on-campus productions and throughout Kansas' center of arts and culture—preparing you for a successful performance career.

Admission to the program

To be admitted into the College of Fine Arts BFA dance program, you must:

  • Be admitted to Wichita State
  • Have a minimum entrance proficiency of level two in all technique disciplines (modern dance, ballet, and jazz)

Inside the Program

Student performance takes a collaborative approach

Students pursuing a degree in dance have the opportunity to work alongside fellow fine arts students to express their creativity.

In a gala concert, students from all three fine arts schools performed together to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Wiedemann Hall and the Marcussen Organ.

Alongside ceramics and music students, six dancers performed "Trois Danses: Joies, Deuils and Luttes."

Curriculum

As a BFA dance major, you'll take 85 credit hours within the dance program, including courses in acting, dance technique, academics, theory, choreography, and performance. You'll also choose from a number of dance electives based on your interests and career goals.

Careers

From local productions to Broadway, a degree in dance from Wichita State's College of Fine Arts equips students with the skills, connections, and confidence for careers as performers, choreographers, and educators.
