Overview
Wichita State’s Doctor of Education (EdD) in educational leadership gives practicing professionals in K-12, higher education, and other educational organizations a way to further develop their leadership capacity—and careers.
Program Structure
This three-year, cohort-based program involves student-faculty research benefiting local educational institutions. Rather than the typical lecture classroom, seminars are held in a setting where faculty and students meet as equals.
- Fall and spring courses meet once a week.
- Summer courses are offered in a hybrid (in-person/online) format.
Admission Requirements
Basic admission requirements include:
- A 3.5 minimum GPA for all graduate-level coursework
- Submission of official college transcripts
- Three references
- Three years of professional experience in a P-16 setting
- Professional resume and statement of goals
- Sample of academic writing
Curriculum
The program requires 55 credit hours of coursework, comprehensive examinations, and an oral dissertation examination. Students take two years of coursework together and the third year is dedicated to the dissertation.
