Program Overview
The Master of Science in Kinesiology, Human Performance Track provides an in-depth study of applied human physiology and how it relates to non-clinical settings, focused on exercise, athletic performance, and health and wellness across the lifespan.
Program Details
- The program offers a Non-Thesis option and a Thesis option for students.
- Both options require a minimum of 30 credit hours.
- All students are automatically placed in the Non-Thesis option.
- Students wishing to pursue the Thesis option must receive approval from the graduate program director and have a commitment from a faculty member to serve as the thesis committee chair.

- 30 Credit Hours Minimum beyond the Bachelor's Degree
Track Prerequisites
- The MS in Kinesiology requires that all applicants successfully complete (with a grade of C or higher) the equivalent of 8 semester hours of anatomy and physiology, with labs.
- One of two options must be met:
- Option 1: Human Anatomy with lab and Human Physiology with lab
- Option 2: Anatomy/Physiology combined with labs

Fellowships are awarded based on academic merit to highly qualified students.
Additional Requirements
- Students in the Non-Thesis option are required to participate in APK 6946 - Graduate Internship in Kinesiology (3 Credit Hours) or take an independent learning experience (APK 6909 - Problem Analysis - Review of Literature).
- Students may have no more than 1 C grade (3 credit hours) in courses used for the Kinesiology MS program prior to enrolling in APK 6946 - Graduate Internship in Kinesiology.
- Equipment Fee: Full-time students in the Kinesiology MS program pay a $28 equipment fee each semester. Part-time students pay $14 each semester.
- Independent Learning: All students are required to complete an internship, literature review, or thesis in conjunction with their coursework.
