The Film (BA) program is offered by the College of Sciences, specifically through the Department of Communication and Media, Nicholson School.
Program Details

Degree Requirements
- Students who change degree programs and select this major must adopt the most current catalog.
- Students are required to earn a "C" (2.0) or better in each major course.
- A maximum of 6 hours of internship credit can be used in this major.
- Students must have a minimum of a "B" (3.0) GPA in the major to enroll in internship credits.
- Students must declare a minor outside the Film Department. When no official minor is offered, students may complete an 18-credit-hour area of concentration approved by the Program Coordinator.
- Students must consult with their Academic Success Coach (ASC) each semester.
- Department Residency Requirement consists of at least 36 semester hours of regularly scheduled courses taken from the Nicholson School of Communication and Media.
- Courses designated in the General Education Program and Common Program Prerequisites are usually completed in the first 60 hours.
- Students must regularly check their UCF email for important information and announcements.

University Minimum Exit Requirements
- A 2.0 UCF GPA
- 42 semester hours of upper division credit completed
- 30 of the last 39 hours of course work must be completed in residency at UCF.
- A maximum of 45 hours of extension, correspondence, CLEP, Credit by Exam, and Armed Forces credits permitted.
- Complete the General Education Program, the State Writing and Math Requirement, and nine hours of Summer credit.
Acceptable Substitutes for Common Program Prerequisites
- FIL1031 or FIL2032 may substitute for FIL2030; however, FIL2030 is a prerequisite for subsequent Film courses and still must be taken.
