Program Overview


This inclusive education program for individuals with learning or intellectual disabilities enhances independent living skills and prepares students for the workforce or further education. Through four courses focusing on self-management, New Zealand culture, future planning, and well-being, students gain skills tailored to their needs. Employment support is available through a partnership with PolyEmp, facilitating successful transitions into employment.

Program Outline

You will develop your independent living skills and learn skills that can help you find work or further your education. Our friendly tutors will support you with in-class and online learning in a way that suits your needs.


Outline:

You will need to complete the below four courses (75 credits):

  • 901.114 I’ve got this (18 credits)
  • Gain self-management skills required for study and work.
  • 901.115 I am Aotearoa New Zealand (19 credits)
  • Apply self-management skills required to study and work.
  • 901.116 Where to next?
  • (18 credits)
  • Planning and preparation for future work and/or study.
  • 901.117 Ready, set, go (20 credits)
  • Keeping healthy, safe and well to participate fully in everyday life.

Careers:

  • This programme is tailored to individual needs.
  • Students then have the opportunity to be referred to an employment agency (PolyEmp) which works alongside MIT to support students into employment.
