Modules:
- Core Modules:
- Sustainable Construction Technology (15 credits): This module provides expert knowledge in commercial construction technology, focusing on sustainable construction and building services. It covers building types, site investigation, substructure, superstructure, material selection, building construction design, and sustainable solutions for building services.
- Design and Specification (30 credits): Develops working knowledge of materials and the ability to produce appropriate specifications. It covers client requirements analysis, UK building regulations, economic principles, financial management, quantity estimation, computer-aided design (Revit), structures, and buildability. It covers types of decay, building management, maintenance options, building re-use, renewal, and carbon reduction technologies.
- Applied Research Methods and Dissertation (60 credits): Develops research skills and allows students to study an area of interest in depth. It includes reviewing literature, applying research methods, analyzing data, and writing a dissertation.
- Professional Placement (120 credits): (Only for full-time, 2-year program including professional placement) Provides an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills in a working environment. The placement must be approved by the Course Leader and must be completed over a minimum of 10 months and a maximum of 12 months.

- Practical: 8% Assessment methods vary by module and may include exams, presentations, performance, essays, reports, self-assessment, portfolios, and dissertations. Feedback is provided within 20 working days.

Staff have a wide range of experience in research and industry, and continue to practice and research at the cutting edge of their discipline. They are nationally and internationally recognized leaders in their areas of specialism.

- Potential Career Paths: Chartered Building Surveyor, Building Doctor, roles in housing associations, building surveying consultancy firms, and other related fields. Many graduates go on to qualify as Chartered Surveyors.

Additional costs
Depending on the programme of study, there may be extra costs that are not covered by tuition fees which students will need to consider when planning their studies. Where a course has additional expenses, we make every effort to highlight them. Textbooks You may prefer to buy your own copy of key textbooks, this can cost between £50 and £250 per year. Computer equipment Photocopying and printing In the majority of cases written coursework can be submitted online. There may be instances when you will be required to submit work in a printed format. Printing, binding and photocopying costs are not included in your tuition fees, this may cost up to £100 per year. Travel Placements Field trips Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Safety boots can range between £25 and £100. This may cost up to £50.
