Students may also pursue Bloomberg certification, a valuable credential for employment in the financial industry.
Outline:
The program consists of a one-year full-time course, with an optional two-year full-time option that includes a professional placement year. The program is structured as follows:
Year 1:
- Core Modules (6):

It includes numerical schemes like the binomial lattice and explores market calibration of derivative models.
- Corporate Finance (30 credits): This module focuses on investment, financing, and profit distribution decisions.
- Financial Statement Analysis (15 credits): This module develops critical knowledge and understanding of accounting principles. It provides a theoretical foundation in econometrics and explores the application of these theories to analytical models in business and finance. Students develop analytical and programming skills, drawing from current empirical finance literature and econometric techniques used to evaluate models of firm performance, asset prices, returns, and sustainability.
- Dissertation and Research Methods (60 credits): This module introduces methods and procedures for identifying, investigating, and analyzing a research problem, culminating in the development of a dissertation. Students are expected to demonstrate familiarity with the theory and research in their chosen field and apply concepts and techniques critically.
- Optional Modules (Choose one): Students assess risk control tools, international economic linkages, monetary systems, and parity conditions in international financial markets. Topics include the basics of blockchain technology, evolution, use cases, cryptocurrencies, mining, and investments. Students engage in lectures, practical case studies, and lab sessions to gain hands-on experience. Assessment includes two contemporary coursework applications where students develop a business solution based on blockchain technology.
- Market-based Accounting (15 credits): This module focuses on the relationship between capital markets and accounting information. Students gain familiarity with empirical accounting research and apply concepts from accounting and finance in capital market settings. It provides students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in a real-world work environment, enhancing employability and subject-specific skills. Students are responsible for securing a suitable placement opportunity, which must be approved by the module leader and completed over a minimum of 10 months and a maximum of 12 months.
Assessment:
Assessment methods vary depending on the module, but typically include:
