Program Outline

This industry-accredited MSc in Management in Construction is designed for individuals with a background in the built environment who aspire to advance into construction project management roles, whether working for a contractor, client, or consultancy. It harmonizes the study of industry techniques with advanced construction project management. It also explores methods for resolving construction disputes, the importance of the law of evidence, and develops relevant graduate attributes sought after in the construction industry, such as collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, initiative, and creativity. It examines senior management-level processes in estimating and tendering decisions that contractors make during the bidding process.

  • Evaluating and critically analyzing contract discharge, contract performance, and contract breaches.
  • It provides students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in a relevant work environment, developing and enhancing employability and subject-specific skills in their chosen discipline. Students are responsible for finding and securing a suitable placement opportunity, which should typically involve no more than two placements, lasting at least 10 months and no more than 12 months. Students have access to standard placement preparation activities offered by the Student Engagement and Enhancement (SEE) group.
