Program Overview
The program emphasizes flexibility to keep up with technological advancements and offers a range of facilities such as the Circuits and Electronics Lab, Embedded Systems Lab, and Communication Lab to support student learning. Graduates can pursue careers in various fields, including communication systems engineering, software engineering, and embedded systems design.
Program Outline
The program aims to provide graduates with the theoretical and applied foundations necessary to solve problems scientifically and providing them with the awareness of the important role specialized engineering plays for the community in Egypt and abroad. The ECE program is committed to continuous improvement in the overall quality of learning, and scientific and academic research, with the effective participation of students who are the focus of the educational process. The program bears the responsibility of participating in the scientific and technological progress in its field of specialization by providing the theoretical, practical, and technical basis for students to allow them to practice professional and research work, whether this work is in the industrial community or in the academic and research field so that education in the program becomes a suitable nucleus for completing postgraduate studies. The program bears the professional responsibility to provide means of continuing education and specialized training for engineers working in the industry to develop their capabilities and provide them with the necessary skills to cope with the steady growth in technology that the world is currently witnessing.
Careers:
The program prepares students for careers in:
- Communication Systems Engineer and Designer
- Software and Hardware Integration Engineer
- Intelligent Systems Engineer
- Internet and Intranet Specialist
- Software Engineer & Designer
- Electronics Engineer
- Application-Specific Hardware/Software Systems Engineer
Other:
The program offers a range of facilities to support student learning including the Circuits and Electronics Lab, the Embedded Systems Lab, and the Communication Lab. The Circuits and Electronics Lab combines basic electronic instrumentation and high technology equipment to serve the university’s undergraduates all the way through their five-year educational journey and postgraduates with their advanced research. The electronics lab includes oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, and electronic inventory. The Embedded Systems Lab includes several state-of-the-art training kits that enable the lab to offer a wide range of experiments to serve the different computer architecture, and embedded systems courses offered in the ECE program serve the research activities at NU. The Communication Lab is built around the USRP B200 mini software defined radio (SDR) kits and the free and open-source software GNU Radio. This provides a high degree of flexibility in developing a wide range of lab experiments that suit the analog, digital and wireless communication courses.
