Program Overview

This one-year early childhood education program develops foundational skills in child development, curriculum frameworks, and teaching practices. Through lectures, workshops, and practical placements, students gain an understanding of the principles of Te Whāriki, the national early childhood curriculum, and its application in creating supportive learning environments. The program prepares students for careers as non-registered educators, home-based carers, nannies, and play specialist assistants, and provides a pathway to further study in teaching.
