Program Overview
Trent University and Ontario Tech University offer interdisciplinary M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs that focus on the scientific foundation of materials research. Through coursework and a thesis, the program prepares students for careers in research and development in the public or private sector. M.Sc. students may apply for transfer to the Ph.D. program after one year.

Entry Requirements:
- Academic Requirements:
- B.Sc. Honours degree (a four-year undergraduate bachelor's degree) in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum B+ (77%) or equivalent in the work of the last four semesters or the last two undergraduate years (last ten full credits).
- A potential supervisor must be chosen as an admission requirement to this program and this must be discussed in your plan of study.
- A GRE test score is not required for admission into this program.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
- Proficiency in English usage, both written and oral, is essential.
- Applicants who completed two or more years of post-secondary education at a university in Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and the USA are exempt from this requirement.
- If you have completed two or more years of post-secondary education at a university where the primary language of instruction is English, the School of Graduate Studies is prepared to consider alternate proof of English language proficiency.
