Program Overview
The MSc Spatial Planning program from the University of Oxford equips students with the skills to become chartered planners. Taught by experienced professionals and academics, the flexible program includes core modules covering placemaking and sustainability, and a choice of optional modules in urban design, environmental assessment, and regeneration. The MSc Spatial Planning program is designed with support from industry to equip students with the skills needed to become chartered planners with RTIP. It provides insights into the work of researchers in key areas like the 15-minute city, healthy cities, urban sustainability, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), transportation, community development, strategic planning, and more. The program's flexibility allows for students to continue their careers while upgrading their skills. It welcomes recent graduates as well as professionals without traditional qualifications, who can be evaluated based on their portfolio.

- Students choose one optional module:

- Urban Regeneration and Historic Conservation
- An overseas field trip exposes students to practical planning examples in another European country (past destinations include Barcelona, Freiburg, Amsterdam, and Lyon; additional cost applies).
- A final dissertation allows students to explore an area of interest, often linked to their current role or a specific challenge from their employer.
Learning and Teaching:
- The program utilizes diverse teaching and learning approaches, including workshops, seminars, design studios, lectures, and online discussion forums.
- All students have access to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), which provides teaching and learning materials and discussion forums.
- Students have opportunities to interact and work with other students across the program and in other courses.
Assessment:
- The MSc Spatial Planning course does not include examinations.
- Assessment is solely through coursework.

Tuition fee instalments for the semester are due by the Monday of week 1 of each semester. If the leaving date is after week 4, full fees for the semester are payable.
