The Certificate in Holistic Health Studies is available to both degree and non-degree seeking students. The certificate is offered by the Institute for Holistic Health Studies (IHHS). Non-degree students apply through the College of Professional & Global Education at (415) 405-7700 or at www.cel.sfsu.edu. The certificate is ideal for individuals with an academic degree, those already working in the health profession, or those exploring career options. The program can also be used for personal growth, self-care, and stress reduction. Students can take courses without enrolling in the program.

The program requires 30 units of coursework and includes the following components:
- Completion of Minor (22 Units): The minor in Holistic Health Studies is a prerequisite.

- HH 680 Holistic Health Internship Seminar (3 Units)
- Electives (5 Units): Students may select electives from remaining Holistic Health Studies courses or from any appropriate courses across the campus, with advisor approval. Examples of appropriate courses include:

- Students fulfilling the requirements for the Holistic Health Studies Minor or Certificate Program may be eligible to apply for a Certification in Stress Management Education given by the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA).
- Students who take the Holistic Health Studies biofeedback courses and meet additional requirements may be eligible to apply for BCIA Biofeedback Certification.
