Newgiza University School of Medicine

The Newgiza University School of Medicine aspires to attain a leading position among medical schools in the region and to become a distinguished center for advanced scientific research, committed to graduating physicians who can serve as effective agents of change on the national, regional, and international levels, with an active commitment to impactful community service driven by dedication and passion towards enhancing global healthcare.

Program Structure

The MBBCh program is an integrated program, meaning a deliberate blurring of the boundaries between basic science, clinical science, theory, and practice, and between disciplines. Although delivered in an integrated format, the program includes all the core basic sciences, clinical sciences, practical knowledge, and skills and professional and generic skills required to address the intended learning outcomes.


Program Details

  • The program contains 325 credit units (308 compulsory and 17 elective).
  • These credit units do not represent only contact hours but the total learning effort required to achieve the learning outcomes, including direct contact hours in classrooms, small groups, and practical classes, workplace-based learning in clinical placements, project work, self-paced learning delivered via the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), and self-directed learning.
  • A credit unit is estimated to represent 25 hours of study.

Modules

  • Each year contains both horizontal modules (completed within the year) and vertical modules (running through the entire program).
  • Some elective modules are available to enrich the program and allow students to pursue an area of personal interest or career-related in-depth.

Internship Program

The Internship Program is a structured, supervised workplace-based training two-year program designed to help interns gain competence in essential clinical skills as well as other professional skills such as communication & teamwork. The program is typically made up of 2-3 month placements in a range of specialties over a period of two years.

NGU- SOM, as an Egyptian university, aspires to lead in all aspects including community and environmental awareness, while valuing the importance of social responsibility as an integral part of medical education. The Alumni Office at the School of Medicine, Newgiza University, supports ongoing learning and professional development for its graduates. The office provides resources for medical-related courses and certifications, including online platforms such as FutureLearn, Harvard Medical School Online Learning, and OpenWHO.


Career Development Office

The Career Development Office (CDO) at the School of Medicine, Newgiza University, organized an online seminar on Medical Liability Law, discussing its key provisions, implementation challenges, and impact on daily medical practice. The CDO also hosts career pathway guidance events, providing students with insights into various medical specialties and career options.


Student Support

The student support team serves the undergraduate student community through group and individual meetings, offering regular support, intensive support, and psychological support. The team also provides revisiting part of the syllabus for late admissions, transfer students, and those who miss coursework with a valid excuse.


Quality Assurance and Monitoring of Teaching

The Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) at the School of Medicine, Newgiza University, supports a culture of total quality management, ensuring that standards and guidelines within the teaching, learning, and assessment processes are implemented. The unit targets the identification of good practices as well as deficiencies and obstacles, working on performance follow-up, suggestions for development and enhancement, staff development, and the systematic review and development of processes, policies, strategies, and priorities to support continuing improvement.


Tuition Fees and Deadlines
