Computer Engineering Program

Program Overview

Computer Engineering exists at the intersection of technology and innovation. Being a dynamic professional field, computer engineering offers varied career paths in both hardware engineering (e.g., microprocessors) and software development—each of which drives computing advances in industries ranging from aerospace to healthcare.

Degree Requirements

The program is divided into 4 tracks:

  • Embedded Systems & Internet of things.
  • Cloud Computing.
  • High-Performance Computing.
  • Computers Security. For graduation, students need to complete the following credit hours:
  • University Requirement: 20 Credit Hours.
  • Mathematics & Basic Science: 39 Credit Hours.
  • Computer Science & Engineering: 39 Credit Hours.
  • AI science & Engineering: 9 Credit Hours.
  • Advanced Specially Requirement: 45 Credit Hours.
  • Biomedical Informatics: 0 Credit Hours.
  • Project & Training: 8 Credit Hours. Total: 160 Credit Hours.

Learning Outcomes

In the computer engineering program, students will:

  • Benefit from small class sizes with personal attention from accomplished faculty who are industry leaders.
  • Learn to analyze, design, and test digital computer systems, architectures, networks, and processes.
  • Develop transdisciplinary skills and proficiency in subfields of computer engineering, such as hardware, software, and systems.
  • Gain exposure to a variety of industries and applications via partnerships with local businesses and business leaders.
  • Have access to high-tech computer engineering labs that include microcontrollers, drones, sensors, 3D printers, and laser cutters.
  • Expand their knowledge and have fun while participating in on-campus engineering events.
  • Have access to facilities such as the engineering lab, motion capture/gaming lab, computer classrooms, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and AR/VR Labs.

Potential Career Opportunities

Graduates interested in computer engineering careers are not beholden to pursuing specific careers in hardware engineering or software development. In fact, a degree in computer engineering opens the door to multiple employment avenues, from networking to systems development, Web development, to information technology. Jobs directly related to the degree include:

  • Applications Developer.
  • Cyber security Analyst.
  • Game Developer.
  • Information Systems Manager.
