Degree Overview:
Over 90 per cent of the world’s goods are transported by sea, making shipping and shipping logistics a vital part of world trade. Shipping managers in the current marketplace need to understand all aspects of international supply chain management. As the shipping industry evolves towards an integrated, multimodal, door-to-door logistics approach, such knowledge becomes increasingly important. Solent’s intellectually challenging international shipping and logistics master’s degree is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge sought after by employers within this dynamic industry.

Teaching:
The course is taught by a mix of lectures, seminars, simulation and negotiation exercises, problem-based learning, and field work. There is also a strong emphasis on research and you'll complete a thesis under supervision.

Our graduates are well equipped for careers in maritime business, logistics and/or supply chain management, either in the UK or internationally.

- The course is designed with input from maritime industry organisations, ensuring course content is tailored to deliver the specialised industry knowledge and skills that the shipping and logistics industries are looking for.

- This course is eligible for the Postgraduate Master's student loan. The loan is from Student Finance England and can be used to cover costs (ie, accommodation, tuition fees) associated with postgraduate studies (it was up to £12,167 for 2023 entry).
The tuition fees for the 2024/25 academic year are: UK and Channel Island part-time fees: £4,850 per year International and EU part-time fees: Students from outside the UK are usually unable to obtain a visa for part-time study.
