SQE Law Essentials Online
Overview
The SQE Law Essentials course is designed for early-stage legal professionals who wish to reinforce their legal knowledge or individuals who have studied law previously and wish to update their knowledge. This short, online conversion course provides the essential academic legal knowledge required for SQE1 and a solid grounding in core legal principles.

Course Structure
Academic Modules
You will learn the essentials of the key foundation areas of law that align to the Solicitors Regulation Authority specification of Functioning Legal Knowledge (FLK) for the SQE. In each area, you will develop a practical and functional understanding of the foundations of English & Welsh Law, and core analytical and practical legal skills. You will also receive an ebook study manual for each of these modules.

Course Dates
With many options for when you can study, you can be sure to find a start date to suit your needs.
Please note: The SQE Law Essentials course will help prepare you for the SQE1 assessment.
You will book, pay for and sit your SQE assessments externally, this includes requests for reasonable adjustments. See the SRA website for details.

Assessment
There are no exams. There are mock SQE1 assessments arranged in the last week of each semester in order to help you prepare for the requirements of the real assessments.
On successful completion of our SQE Law Essentials, including practice tests and mocks, you will obtain a completion certificate which will facilitate progression on to our LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2).
Please note: This course does not lead to an academic award.
Structure
We provide you with a structured approach to your learning, with a clear and easy to navigate online learning platform (Blackboard ELITE), supported by our dedicated academic, administrative, design and development teams to ensure you have the very best learning experience.
- Part-time is three semesters, totalling 16 weeks.
- Full-time is two semesters of five weeks each.
This course includes five units of self-guided study per module. There are 1 hour facilitated Live Subject Support Sessions (LSSS) for each unit, each week (usually over a lunchtime session 12:30 – 13:30), focusing on areas of difficulty, volunteered by students or identified by learner analytics.
