Our online LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2) course is designed for graduates who want to qualify as a solicitor using the new SQE route to practice and also gain a Master’s award. LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2) Online
Our online LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2) course will offer you the best possible preparation to practise law. This course incorporates preparation for both SQE1 and SQE2, as well as additional content considered highly desirable by law firms, including key practice areas (KPAs) and enhanced skills.

Qualifying Work Experience (QWE)
As part of the new SQE route to practice, you must complete two years of Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) which can be completed with up to four employers.
For all students on this course, we’re offering you the chance to complete four weeks of QWE within our Legal Advice Clinics.

The LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2) Online is a postgraduate program designed for graduates who want to qualify as a solicitor using the new SQE route to practice and also gain a Master’s award. It includes four weeks of guaranteed Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) within the University's Legal Advice Clinics. The course aims to ensure students are fully prepared for their careers as solicitors and for success in the SQE exams.

The Business of Law module consists of two compulsory modules:
- Professional Effectiveness
- Law Firms and their Clients
Plus a choice from one of the following additional modules:

The Professional Practice Report module consists of:
- Research method induction
- Individual tutor supervision
- The completion of an extended research report based on one of your chosen KPAs.
Assessment:
- SQE1 and SQE2: Assessed by centralised assessments introduced by the SRA, not by The University of Law. These assessments are an essential requirement to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales. The assessments for SQE1 and SQE2 are under the control of the SRA’s chosen assessment provider Kaplan.
- SQE Plus: Assessed by a mixture of courseworks, research reports, and one oral presentation.
- Key Practice Areas (KPAs): A 2,000 word technical black letter law coursework based on problem-solving questions and the production of a short slide deck for each KPA.
- The Preparation for Practice Module: A 3,000 word research report on the development of the well-rounded lawyer skills and the commercial/legal practice/client contexts relating to the practice of law in the KPAs selected, and one 20-minute oral assessment based on one of your KPA courseworks and related slide deck.
- The Business of Law Module: A 4,000 word coursework and a 500 word reflective statement on the professional effectiveness and law firms and their clients subjects, and a 2,000 word coursework on your chosen additional module option.
- The Professional Practice Report Module: A 7,500 word research report based on one of your chosen KPAs.
Teaching:
- The program uses a dynamic learning model: Prepare, Engage, Consolidate (PEC), covering all professional practice subjects and revision of all law subjects in the SRA’s assessment specification.
- The program provides a structured approach to learning, with a clear and easy to navigate online learning platform (Blackboard ELITE), supported by dedicated academic, administrative, design, and development teams.
- The program is taught by qualified lawyers, with practical workshops to develop legal skills.
