Health Sciences, B.S. to Pharmacy, Pharm.D. Accelerated Program
The B.S. in health sciences to Pharm.D. accelerated program at Saint Louis University allows students working toward a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences to apply for admission into the first professional (P1) year of the Pharm.D. after three years of undergraduate study in the health sciences program.
Overview
- The University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis offers the Pharm.D.
- Courses taken as part of the P1 year are eligible for reverse transfer to SLU and can fulfill requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences.
- The curriculum focuses on preparing students to provide interprofessional, evidence-based, patient-centered care in any practice setting, achieving positive drug therapy outcomes for patients.
Requirements
- Students must declare their interest in the accelerated B.S. to Pharm.D. program to their program as soon as possible during their SLU bachelor's, after completing 15 credits at SLU but prior to achieving 45 total credits.
- Students must complete the UHSP application by December 1st of the year prior to their anticipated start of the Pharm.D.
- UHSP will notify students by February 1st of the admission decision.
- Students are recommended to have a minimum of a 2.70 cumulative grade point average (GPA) to apply.
- Transfer students will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must meet eligibility requirements.
Admission Criteria
- Students should have no grades below a C- in prerequisite courses to the Pharm.D. and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 or higher and a core math and science grade point average of 2.7 or higher.
- Students must successfully complete all designated prerequisite courses at SLU, or at a regionally accredited college or university, in order to be accepted to the Pharm.D. program.
- Students must successfully complete an interview and writing assessment.
- As admission requirements can change over time, SLU students should consult UHSPs website for the admission requirements that are in place at the time of application and admission.
